FAWEK Kenya: Driving Change Through Education and Community Engagement
Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives, yet many girls in Kenya continue to face barriers that prevent them from accessing and completing quality education. The Forum for African Women Educationalists – Kenya Chapter (FAWEK) is at the forefront of addressing these challenges by championing girls’ and women’s education through advocacy, programs, and community partnerships.
Who Is FAWEK Kenya?
The Forum for African Women Educationalists – Kenya Chapter (FAWEK) is a national non governmental organisation dedicated to promoting gender equity and equality in education. FAWEK works to ensure that girls and women have equal access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive socially and economically.
Through strategic partnerships, research, and community based initiatives, FAWEK continues to influence education policy and practice across Kenya.

The Problem FAWEK Is Addressing
Despite progress in access to education, many girls still face systemic challenges, including:
School dropout due to teenage pregnancy and early marriage
Poverty and lack of school resources
Gender-based discrimination in learning environments
Limited access to mentorship, leadership opportunities, and life skills
These challenges not only affect individual girls but also slow down broader social and economic development.

What FAWEK Does and How They Do It;
FAWEK addresses these challenges through a holistic approach that includes:
Girls’ education and empowerment programmes focused on retention, performance, and completion of schooling
Advocacy and policy engagement to promote gender-responsive education systems
Community sensitisation involving parents, teachers, boys, and local leaders
Mentorship and life-skills training that equips girls to make informed choices and build confidence
By tackling both structural and social barriers, FAWEK creates sustainable pathways for girls to succeed.

FAWEK Sponsors the Ladies Medal at Migaa Golf Club
As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community engagement, FAWEK sponsored the Ladies Medal at Migaa Golf Club on 24th May.
The sponsorship served as a platform to:
Raise awareness about the importance of girl child education
Engage the golfing community in meaningful social impact
Mobilise support and resources to fund educational initiatives for girls
By aligning sport with social impact, FAWEK continues to expand conversations around education beyond traditional spaces and into influential community networks.
